Mitch Christiansen Inner Fire Yogi since September 2018

Seeking a way to remain active while recovering from a nasty wrist injury, I stumbled blindly into yoga in early 2012. I quickly realized that intentional movement and breath made for a very solid foundation for recovery.

My initial plan was to get this wrist thing figured out and return to my regularly scheduled workout routine. I had no idea that yoga wasn't quite finished with me yet. A tale as old as time; I found the physical movement to be merely the surface of something far greater.

"I find it difficult to imagine a version of me without my practice."

It has shown up for me in more ways than I could ever hope to count. Good times, bad times, I've seen a few, and throughout all of them, my practice persists.

I was drawn to Inner Fire Yoga at the recommendation of a friend, who told me "the heat will set you free," with a wink. Boy howdy, was she on to something. Inner Fire Yoga's unique mix of powerful sequencing, informed and skillful teaching, welcoming community, and of course the aforementioned heat, has kept me coming back savasana after savasana.

I have had the privilege to practice alongside so many powerful and skillful humans in my time at IFY that have pushed, nurtured, and encouraged me to thrive on the mat, with Hope, Jane, Amelia, Claire, and Brad a few of the many.

Writing this has been a wonderful walk through my Inner Fire Yoga journey, thinking of my early classes at IFY West to being in those first IFY East classes, all the way through my current lineup. I have gratitude for not only my own practice and all the ways it enhances my being, but also the humans it has connected me with, on and off the mat. Thank you!
