Inner Fire Yogi since August 2025
I had tried yoga a few times in the past, but I never really found it to be something that worked for me. By the fall of 2025, I was struggling with depression, lacking motivation, and feeling like there was an empty void in my life that needed to be filled.
My friend Kyle Wallace invited me to join him for a class as his guest, and I agreed. By chance, I attended on a day when he was being recognized for completing his 300th class. Seeing him celebrated for that achievement and rewarded for his dedication made an impression on me.
Not long after, Kyle received a gift certificate for completing a yoga challenge. The prize was two weeks of unlimited yoga that he could give to someone else, and he chose to give it to me. After some delays and hesitation on my part, I finally decided to take advantage of the opportunity and signed up for a few classes. Since Kyle presented me with that opportunity, I haven't looked back.
"If I could tolerate discomfort in a hot yoga studio, I was better able to handle other challenges that would normally frustrate me or test my patience."
I had never practiced hot yoga before, but I immediately began noticing positive changes in my life. I discovered that if I could tolerate discomfort in a hot yoga studio, I was better able to handle other challenges that would normally frustrate me or test my patience. Starting my day with yoga gave me confidence and helped me approach each day with a better mindset. Just as importantly, I found a community where I felt a genuine sense of belonging.
My favorite class is Power Flow with Christa. Her teaching style is approachable and never overbearing, and she does an excellent job explaining poses and movements in plain language. As I like to joke, I'm not exactly fluent in "yoganese." Everyone has their own preference, but her style really resonates with me.
Recently, I reached a milestone of 100 classes since becoming a member in October 2025. Looking back, I'm grateful that Kyle encouraged me to give yoga another chance. What started as a guest pass has become an important part of my life, and I'm looking forward to the day when I earn recognition for 300 classes myself.
