Inner Fire Yogi since September 2016

I joined Inner Fire Yoga in 2016 because I wanted to try yoga in the heated studio, and have been addicted to the warm studio since then. Every time I come to my mat, I feel grateful for everything – the clean and warm studio, welcoming staff, amazing teachers, and my health which allows me to do what I do during classes. My children also join the classes occasionally and love them. Inner Fire Yoga is a gift to the Madison community.

Over the past ten years, my attitude to life has quite transformed from a bit too serious to something lighter and funner. Teachings from mindfulness and meditation have been impactful. More recently, I’m learning a lot from pragmatic teaching of Japanese Buddhism which I have re-discovered.

Along this path, it is not a coincidence that my approach to yoga has also changed. When I started in 2016, I would come to classes with more seriousness; however, lately I’m finding more fun and joy in practice each time.

All the teachers at IFY are talented and awesome, but I particularly enjoy classes taught by (in an alphabetical order) Brad, Claire, Ellen, Mandy, and Meg, whose classes are hard, yet fun and light. Just what I need 😊

Even after many classes, I still struggle with a dancer’s pose ☹ It is my dream that one day I’ll nail down a dancer’s pose with much confidence. That said, it is OK even if I wobble and shake and whatever. I still have lots of fun in other poses!
