Nurturing The Post-Yoga Glow

by Hannah Moran, IFY Teacher and Director of Marketing/Ops

There’s a very special feeling that happens after a yoga class...

You step off your mat and back out into the world. Your legs feel like noodles. Your brain is suspiciously quiet. Your skin is glowing in a way that makes you wonder if this is what all those influencers mean by “effortless.”

We call this the Post-Yoga Glow 🌟

Especially after those juicy hot classes at Inner Fire Yoga, this Glow is a thing. You can spot it from a mile away. It’s the calm smile at the stoplight on your way home; the way you’re more willing than usual to let someone merge in front of you; the general aura of “I just did something good for myself and now I am emotionally unavailable for nonsense.”

What Is the Post-Yoga Glow, Anyway?

Scientifically speaking, it’s a mix of endorphins, circulation, and nervous system regulation.

Spiritually speaking, it’s your soul stretching its legs.

Practically speaking, it’s why you suddenly feel more patient in the Willy Street Co-op checkout line while the person in front of you is arguing with the clerk about organic bananas.

Hot yoga turns the volume down on the mental noise and turns the volume up on presence. You didn’t just sweat buckets – you wrung out the stress and tension that’s been living rent-free on your shoulders.

Taking the Glow Out Into Madison

The real magic happens when you leave the studio and let that Glow follow you around town.

Maybe you…

  • Walk down State Street feeling oddly kind towards strangers.

  • Grab an ice cream from Stellie’s and actually taste it.

  • Sit by Lake Mendota and stare at the water like someone who has definitely journaled before (even if you haven’t)

  • Head to the Memorial Union Terrace and suddenly realize – life is pretty great!

You’re still sweating. Your hair is doing whatever it wants. But inside? Calm. Clear. Unbothered.

This is the Glow working overtime for you 💪

Protect the Glow

A few gentle reminders:

  • Don’t skip savasana. This is your chance to connect with the Glow, which makes it last longer :)

  • Don’t immediately check your email after class. The Glow is fragile.

  • Drink water. More than you think you need.

  • Eat something nourishing, not just “whatever is closest.”

  • If someone or something tries to rush you, remember: you just did challenging physical forms for 90 minutes. You can handle this.

The Glow doesn’t mean life is perfect, but it does mean you’re better equipped to deal with the hard stuff. You’re less reactive. More spacious. Slightly more likely to let that one thing go.

The Best Part?

The Glow isn’t reserved for retreats or special occasions. It’s available on a random Tuesday. It’s waiting after a 6am class when you thought you’d regret coming. It shows up when you least expect it and stays just long enough to remind you why you practice.

So next time you leave class feeling a little lighter, a little kinder, and a little bit like you could conquer the world – pause. Notice it. Enjoy it.

That Glow? You earned it. 🔥🧘‍♀️
