After moving to Madison for school in the fall of 2024, I was on the search for a way to stay active in a way that fully connected my mind and body. I tried lifting, spin cycle classes, pilates, and many other things, but none of them felt like the right fit for me.
When one of my best friends suggested trying a hot yoga class during last winter, I felt such a sense of relaxation and peace, and I have been hooked ever since!
From a sleepy yin class at nighttime, to practicing headstands at home, yoga has brought me more safety and trust in my body and mind. I have loved developing my practice on a daily basis and facing the challenges that come along with it head-on. I’m learning to care for all of my body and mind, rather than ignoring the random aches and pains.
I can rarely go a day without yoga and am always excited to be back in the studio.
Along with the physical and mental benefits, I have found a beautiful community at Inner Fire Yoga. Over the last couple months, getting to know my peers and sharing my practice in a non-judgmental and supportive room has been a bright spot in my life. After a long day of classes and work, I find Inner Fire Yoga to be a safe haven to come back to myself.
When I’m not doing yoga, you can probably find me reading a book, on a run or walk, knitting, spending time with friends, or watching the sunset at Memorial Union.
