Inner Fire Yoga
My yoga journey started several years ago when an ad in my small town's newspaper caught my eye. It was for a 6-week holistic health class in the basement of a home near me. There, I learned about the proper way to breathe (who knew?), meditation, the eastern philosophy behind yoga, asana practice, vegetarian cooking that included tofu and ghee… my small-town friends were becoming worried about me. However, as a creative and adventurous spirit, I knew I was onto something powerful.
As I moved through the years, I was inconsistent in my practice… life just kept getting in the way. The constant that remained was the mindset of yoga, the wisdom in the voices speaking about it as they grew louder here in the West, and the course correction I felt when I refocused on the Sutras and philosophy that is the foundation of yoga.
In 2008, I committed to a steady home asana/meditation practice for stress relief and aching joints. Discovering hot yoga in Madison, I was hooked; the studio's warmth added a new dimension, and I felt great after each session. I've been consistent in my practice since. It has helped me through the highs and lows of life.
My goal is to help people feel better in their bodies, stronger in their minds, and calmer at their centers.
I joined Inner Fire Yoga last fall through the teacher training program. As I drove past the studio on University Avenue, the slogan "Reach Higher, Burn Brighter" always inspired me and eventually drew me in. That training became a bucket list highlight, not only for what I learned but also for the wonderful cohorts I met. It is my honor and pleasure to teach, advocate for, and educate others on the benefits of yoga.
