Emily Merlin

My story began when I was in middle school. I started doing at home yoga with my mom. It fizzled out in high school because I was busy with other athletics. Then during college (MATC Represent!), I decided to take a Yoga for Beginners class. It was a nice 90-minute break from my hectic studies. It really helped me to slow down a bit and be in the present moment. 

After I graduated college, I signed up for a gym, but I never cared for gyms. I always feel self-conscious and the gym spaces are extremely uninspiring. So as a Christmas gift, my partner bought me the Inner Fire Yoga Special Pack where I could take as many classes for two weeks. Ever since then, I have found my favorite classes of Slow Flow and Power Flow (Peg & Hally respectively). It's been really nice to be active in a safe environment where I don't feel judged for not being able to do the absolute max. 

Yoga has given me the opportunity to really reflect on my body and how it feels. That being said, the best pose is Happy Baby because whenever I do it, I truly feel like a happy baby.
