Yoga Teacher

I grew up on a horse farm, which involved many daily chores and heavy lifting from too young of an age. This, along with playing competitive sports led to intense back and knee pain and little to no flexibility as early as my late teens and early twenties. This is how I found yoga. I began practicing as a purely physical endeavor, but the meditative side soon began to reveal itself and permeate my life in ways that I could never have imagined but so badly needed.

For years I thought about becoming a yoga teacher but between work and family and those unexpected “life events”, it was hard to carve out the time. Anticipating my empty nest status, I enrolled in the IFY Foundations teacher training program in Fall of 2022 and the Power Flow program in winter/spring of 2023. It was one of the very best decisions I’ve made!

In my teaching, I like to focus on alignment and breath and share how different poses and breath exercises affect different parts of the body and the brain. I’m fascinated by neuroscience and how yoga and movement impact brain chemistry. I also love poetry and music, so when I find passages or songs that inspire me, I like to bring them into my classes.

Outside of the studio, I work at UW’s Center for Healthy Minds, am a mom of one incredible young man and I enjoy biking, skiing, hiking, cooking, reading, listening to music, and traveling. I live in Madison with my son and our quirky but lovable Labradoodle.
