Erin VanAlstine

Inner Fire Yoga Teacher

“If you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world."

I originally came to yoga for the physical aspects. I wanted a good workout, I wanted to lose a few pounds, and I had a nagging back injury that wouldn't heal. The outcome was more than I could've ever dreamed. The more I made it to my mat, the more my life began to change in all ways.  Ways that I never expected.  My anxiety started to lift, my head was clear (for once in my life), my body felt better and stronger than ever, and I started eating and craving whole healthy foods.  Yoga has been in my life for many years, my mom has done it since the 70's, and my aunt and stepmom are both instructors. It wasn't until a major injury that I was willing to give it a shot. After practicing for many years, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in Inner Fire Yoga's 200-hour Summer Intensive teacher training. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  As an instructor, I love to challenge people. I love to watch them grow, change, and push past the walls they have built for themselves.  We all are so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for.  I'm playful, I like to laugh and have a good time. Expect a good vigorous flow with many foundational postures in my classes.  In my free time you'll find me hanging out with my two kids, hiking, and enjoying all that life has to offer.
