While growing up in Boulder, Colorado, I was drawn to yoga from a young age and was thrilled to discover Inner Fire when I came to UW-Madison in 2014. Initially, yoga was just another form of exercise for me. I would often get impatient in class and find myself comparing my practice to others around me.
Halfway through my second year at UW I experienced stress-related pain in my back and shoulders along with numbness down my arms. After seeing countless doctors and physical therapists over the following six months, I found that yoga was the one thing that really made a difference. I moved to London to study during my junior year and began to practice nearly every day, trying all different types of yoga. I discovered that the meditative aspect of yoga had an equal or greater benefit to my physical pain and everyday life than the physical practice because I was becoming more comfortable in my own body. My own teachers had such an incredible impact on my life that I decided to become a teacher myself. I completed my 200 Hour RYT with Inner Fire in June of 2017 and am grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community that gave so much to me.
