I spent so many years taking myself and my athletic endeavors too seriously. I am a former (too) competitive rower and coach, and it was such a relief for me to be told, over and over in the yoga studio, that every yoga class is a practice- there will never be a competition. During the seven years that I have been practicing yoga, I have felt my serious criticisms of my physical performance melt away, and they have been replaced with curiosity and awe at what my body is capable of doing when I let go and just practice moving and breathing.
Rowing and graduate school brought me to Madison in 2012, and within two weeks I found myself at my first class at Inner Fire. I know that my yoga practice has helped me be open to making big changes in my life that have lead me down a path much different than the one I had envisioned. I am now working towards my doctoral degree in exercise physiology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. As you might imagine, I am drawn to the many physiological and mental benefits we all experience from the time spent on our mats. I love sharing my passion for a deeply physical and strengthening practice with other students, while learning alongside you to let it all go and surrender to the breath. I’ll see you on the mat!
